Classic Climbers

Climbers have stiffer less pliable stems and larger blooms, which are borne on last seasons wood (compared to ramblers). They often have rather gaunt bases and benefit from underplanting with companion plants. Pruning in the early years can be restricted to shaping. As they become more established you can judiciously remove older wood, encouraging healthy new growth.
